And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

It's no secret that with everything I do, there's always an element of my faith included in it. It's who I am; it's what I am; I am not me without it. So when my dear friend Sharita invited me over this past Friday to make vision boards, I was all in. Vision is directly related to faith.

Without getting too deep or super churchy, allow me to explain that really quickly.

Proverbs 29:18 KJV says,
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."
A few other versions of the same scripture I feel worth noting are the New Living Translation and The Message,
"When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful."- NLT
"If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed."-The Message
And that's it. I particularly like The Message version. It's true. When you don't know God's plan for your life, you don't have direction. There's chaos. You are susceptible to accept just any old thing, live beneath your rightful means, not knowing what God has promised you.

God wants, above anything, for you to prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2). God's wants to give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). God cares so much about us that it even concerns him that we make good investments in life- in our families, friendships, relationships, business, ideas, etc, etc, etc. He wants whatever you invest your time, money, energy, life in to be successful and fulfilling and bring forth a great return in due season (Psalm 1:3 NKJV).

And with all these great things God has envisioned for us, he makes it even sweeter by saying his blessings don't come with any sorrow attached (Proverbs 10:22). Know the saying "Mo' money, mo' problems"? Not the way God has it set up, bro.

Let me clarify that everything I've listed above are all general visions God has for all of his human creations. To know God's specific vision for your own life requires a special one on one type of relationship with your creator to know exactly what it is he has for you. It starts with putting God in his rightful place. Acknowledging that it is he who made us. We didn't make ourselves. Realizing that everything we have belongs to him and it is only our reasonable service to give it back to him. When we began to magnify God, put him where he belongs- FIRST, then he begans to reveal himself to us. And in us. And in it, he begins to reveal your specific vision. Your purpose.

All of that is summed up in Proverbs 3:6
"In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Those gifts and talents you have that are unique to you, he shows you how to use those in your every day life. The gifts and talents are to benefit you financially, emotionally, mentally, etc. He gives them to you for your enjoyment. To make your life more enriched. And when at the very core, the very foundation of this thing is God, that's how you know this is definitely your call. It benefits you and brings praise to God's name.

So! Now that the Tuesday morning Bible Study session is over..

Boys and girls! Ladies and gents! Take out your scissors, your glue sticks, your magazines, and your poster boards and create a master piece! I have to say, I was rather well pleased with my board. I was able to find visuals for almost everything in my vision. A few things I really wanted but wasn't able to find a visual representation of was something signifying the importance of prayer and faith in my life, and a picture of a neat, white, feminine home office. I also wanted to put something that represented me vacationing (A LOT), but I ran out of room.

Oh, vacationing ain't part of the plan of God for my life? Why not? He made this earth. Surely he wants me to see it! Ha!

Even though there were things I was not able to find, I ABSOLUTELY just had to find something representing writing. Reading and writing. Two very essential parts of the specific vision I have for my life. Although the end result actually spans far beyond just the writing, we're just going to go with for now..

Overall I loved my board and I plan to have it framed and hung in my lovely home office. When I get one. I want it there to look at everyday and remind myself of the vision. 'Cause I mean, if you don't have a vision, you perish, right? Right.

Good people, good food, good fun. I dig it!

What is the vision for your life? Right that thing down. Make it plain. And then walk it out.

Let me know what you think! But please be nice. Being negative is just no fun. K?
